Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical experiences include discovering the piano in her attic and discovering the music it created. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents May Britt Aksnes, and Jan Oystein Aksnes urged Aurora Aksnes on to try music as an activity or profession. So she started making her own lyrics. She has cited renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan for inspiration, as well as an affinity for Bjork's style. She decided to start performing the songs she wrote publicly after her mom suggested they could help people not be famous with the work she does, but to help people see around them realize their importance and the ways they have an impact on the world. In the age of 6, she began to play the piano. At age nine, she was writing music. She didn't tell her family about it until the age of fourteen. Aurora wasn't just a fantasy of childhood. She says she just likes writing songs. According to her, music is the most effective way to express anything.
